This site is devoted to the descendants of  Stephen Crego (d. 1690), a mariner based in New York City, and his son Josias Crego (d. 1747?). The family settled in New York City in the 1680s and later migrated to Dutchess and Columbia counties in NY.  The Vermont branch of the family settled (1766) in Shoreham, VT and later  (c.1809) in Oneida County, NY.   Other branches moved to Onondaga and Erie counties in New York, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and points further west.

A family history called A Selective History of the Crego Family (SHCF) was published in 1993 and is now out of stock.  No date has been announced for a new edition.  The most recent updates to the SHCF are available by clicking on the Updates to SHCF heading on the left.  Update 16 was posted on 9 Aug 2011.  A video tour of West Branch Cemetery was added 21 Sep 2011.  See the Reunion page for information on the Crego Reunion 2012.
